CAAI was established by the University Director to promote the use of artificial intelligence in the University’s administration. We work on the development, implementation and wider adoption of AI solutions, approaching AI from two broad perspectives.

Individual use of AI – in the form of personal digital assistants. We support staff in using tools such as Microsoft Copilot in office applications, software development, security and other areas of work. We also continually develop and test new use cases.

AI embedded in services – we develop and implement AI-based solutions for areas such as chatbots, case management, self-service solutions and specialist systems. We also work with suppliers to make use of AI capabilities as they become available in existing and new systems.

Skills development is a key part of CAAI’s work. We provide training, workshops and knowledge-sharing activities that strengthen staff’s understanding and practical use of AI. Our aim is for colleagues to feel confident and take a proactive approach to the opportunities and changes created by AI, and to support one another by sharing experiences, insights and effective solutions.
