Internal Danish Language Courses at AAU

On this page, you can read more about AAU’s two internal Danish language courses for international staff. AAU offers a beginner’s course in Danish and a course in Danish in an academic context, supporting international staff in developing their Danish language skills.

Danish Language Courses at AAU

At Aalborg University, the aim is to strengthen international staff’s opportunities to participate actively in both academic and social communities – from collaboration and meetings to teaching, supervision and day-to-day communication.

AAU therefore offers two internal Danish language courses aimed at international researchers and teaching staff. The courses support the development of the linguistic and communicative skills needed to contribute to parts of teaching in Danish within 2–5 years of employment.

With the two new courses, AAU offers a simple and targeted framework for Danish language learning, tailored to an academic workplace. The courses take place during working hours and focus on situations from everyday life at the university, including teaching, supervision, participation in meetings, collaboration and academic communication. The aim is to make Danish language learning easily accessible and relevant as an integrated part of employment.

Danish in an Academic Context

The course is the next step in AAU’s overall language journey for international employees. It strengthens the Danish language skills needed to gradually use Danish in teaching, supervision, assessment and other academic tasks at AAU.
